Frequently Asked Questions

I know that choosing the right support for your birth and breastfeeding journey comes with a lot of questions—and you deserve clear, reassuring answers. Here are some of the most common questions I hear from families like yours. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out—I’m here to help.

What is a midwife, and how is it different from an OB-GYN?

A midwife provides holistic, personalized care focused on natural birth and supporting your body’s innate ability to give birth. Unlike an OB-GYN, midwives specialize in physiological birth and emphasize education, informed decision-making, and emotional support. If medical intervention is needed, we will collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure the best possible care.

Is home birth safe?

Yes! Research shows that planned home births with a qualified midwife are just as safe as hospital births for low-risk pregnancies. I bring years of experience, monitoring tools, and emergency protocols to ensure the safest possible environment. If complications arise, we have a clear plan for medical transfer when needed.

Can my partner and family be involved in a home birth?

Absolutely! One of the best things about home birth is that it allows your partner and family to be as involved as you want them to be. Whether it’s helping with comfort measures, catching the baby, or just being present, we ensure your loved ones are part of this beautiful journey.

What if I have a low milk supply?

Low milk supply is often remedied with proper feeding techniques, frequent nursing, and by addressing any underlying causes. After assessment of your situation, I offer strategies to naturally boost your supply.

How long do you offer postpartum support?

I provide comprehensive postpartum care for the first six weeks after birth, but many families continue working with me for breastfeeding support, emotional well-being, and holistic healing well beyond that.

Do you accept insurance?

We are currently self-pay only. However, midwifery and lactation services are often covered by insurance, or reimbursed through HSAs/FSAs. I can provide documentation for reimbursement, and you can present this invoice to your insurance company.

Isn’t midwifery outdated compared to modern medicine?

Midwifery is rooted in evidence-based care and has been used successfully for centuries. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes midwives as essential in reducing unnecessary interventions and improving birth outcomes.

What are the benefits of home birth vs. hospital birth?

Choosing home birth allows you to:

✔️ Give birth in a calm, familiar space that promotes relaxation and smooth labor.

✔️ Avoid unnecessary interventions that may not align with your birth plan.

✔️ Have complete autonomy over your choices, movements, and birthing positions.

✔️ Experience uninterrupted bonding and immediate skin-to-skin contact without hospital policies restricting your choices.
